Merry Christmas from the Townsville Touch Referees Association

Season's Greetings from The Townsville Touch Football Management Committee!

The Townsville Touch Referees Association wishes all of our touch football families a very Merry Christmas, and a happy and safe New Year.

It's been a very busy year for our association, and we've had plenty of ups and downs over the last twelve months.

2021 saw a near-record 95 new referees complete their Level One accreditation, a feat that we are incredibly proud of.

We also saw over 35 referees officiate at representative levels, from regional, to state, and national; many returning for the umpteenth time, accompanied by a fair share of debutants.

Eight referees have been successfully upgraded from Level One to Level Two over the last twelve months, and a further six acheiving their Level Three upgrades.

Fourteen referees each tallied over 50 matches throughout the year, with four of them breaking the 100 games mark (our President himself did 113, of which 72 were done in the first six months).

For the first time, we welcomed referees from Townsville Touch Football's junior competitions into our ranks this year, and we're proud to say that we managed it without any hiccups or delays (even though we expected a few early bumps in the road).

While it was a great year of progress and prosperity, we are saddened to be saying goodbye to two of our dedicated volunteers who have given their time to our management committee.

Our Treasurer, Sharryn Foster, has stepped down from the role that she has held since 2018 in order to spend time with her family, and we thank her for the effort she has put into her role over the last three years.

We are also saying goodbye to our Secretary, Makenzie Weier, who has just made the big move south. Thank you Makka for the work you have done over the last twelve months.

Thank you to all of our referees, young and old, and of course their families, for a great year! Whether you are travelling away during the break, or spending your holiday a little closer to home, we encourage you all to do so safely.

We look forward to seeing you all back on a touch football field next year!

May your season be merry and your presents underwear-free (unless you really need some!)
